I am a professor of Peace and Justice Studies at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. During the 2016-17 academic year I am teaching abroad. In the fall of 2016 I was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of the West in Timisoara, Romania and during the spring semester of 2017 I am leading a Regis-sponsored study abroad program at the University of Maynooth, Ireland. In Ireland I am also teaching an American literature course in the English department at Maynooth.

We (my family and I) left the United States in July of 2016. We traveled through Oceania, Southeast Asia and Japan before we arrived in Romania. While stationed in Romania, we travelled all over eastern, central and southern Europe before we landed in Ireland where we’ll stay until the early part of the summer.

This blog spot reflects some of the experiences we’ve had on our travels. You can also check out my wife’s blogs at fretzesontheloose.com.

  1. Hi Eric, I just read your article in the Whakatane news paper. What caught my attention was your family name Fretz. My mother was a Fretz and the name comes from Bottenwil, Switzerland. Years ago she was contacted by members of the Fretz family in the USA and she attended their yearly gathering. I wonder whether you are connected to them?
I’m Swiss, living on the East Coast and have a holiday house in Whakatane.
